Printing Specimen Labels with Specify - Dominican Republic Edition

We have added nearly 60 Localities into Specify that correspond to material acquired during the collecting trip to the Dominican Republic in June, 2008. For each locality we have also created at least one Collecting Event, where we specify the collecting team and date, as well as habitat observations and collecting methods.

In order to accommodate the collecting methods on printed label, we have modified the Collecting Events form, changing the field “Verbatim Locality” to “CollectingMethods_short”.

We have created two new Searches named DRTestLabels2 and DRTestLabels3 that correspond to the Collecting Events and information that needs to be printed on the labels. Using the search command After June 1st, 2008 (not On that date) will ensure that all labels are printed.

In the next step we created two Reports - Report24 and Report26, respectively (corresponding to each of the Searches). These Reports only differ in that Report24 does not have a field for collecting methods (in some case we lack such information), thus reducing the overall label height.

There is a handling trick in Rave Reports, in case the program shows (in the print preview) less than all labels previously selected. One must then close the Report, reopen it and go immediately to the print preview option.
